Cytoplasmic Membrane (Plasma Membrane)
The cytoplasmic membrane is a 40–80 A ˚ -thick semipermeable membrane that contains a phospholipid bilayer with proteins embedded within the bilayer (fluid mosaic model) (Fig. 1.3).
